Petroleum Geophysicists

Duties/Responsibilities:
Brigham has openings for full-time Geophysicists who have a desire to live in the Austin area.  Candidates w/ 10 to 20 years of expertise in any of the following areas is desired:  Louisiana, Texas Gulf Coast, Anadarko Basin, Rockies and West TX. Salary range dependent upon experience.

Work Experience and Special Skills:
Required: Responsible for planning, organizing, and carrying out the geophysical effort in assigned area including the determination of new techniques to be used. Independently carries out advanced geophysical studies. Works under general direction subject to management review. May function as a project leader. Typically requires 10 or more years of experience with a B.S. or M.S. in Geophysics. Must be proficient in the use of a highly specialized software applications and requires 10+ years experience in seismic interpretation and mapping.  Must have excellent knowledge of the Seisworks 2D and 3D software packages and GeoQuest interpretation systems. Multiple high priority project handling and strong analysis and application skills.  Must have experience with 3D pre-stack depth migration workflows.   Needs in depth experience and knowledge of both UNIX and PC platforms. Should have good communication and organization skills and the ability to work independently and with a team of geologists and reservoir engineers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Strong knowledge of UNIX based geophysical software for 3- D seismic interpretation
• Good knowledge of structural and stratigraphic geologic concepts
  
• Well developed communication skills, needs to work well in a team environment
• Strong knowledge of the may facets of prospect generation using 3-D seismic data
• Ability to put closure on prospects and quickly bring to a drillable state
  
• A general understanding of economics to assertant the viability of prospects
  
• Knowledge of geophysical modeling software
  
• Strong ability to generate structural and stratigraphic maps

Petroleum Geologist

Brigham has openings for full-time Petroleum Geologists who have a desire to live in the Austin area. Candidates with 10+ years of expertise in any of the following areas is desired: Anadarko Basin, West Texas, Resource Plays a +. Salary range dependent upon experience.
